See how many people you can get in your community to walk the talk of environmental stewardship!  Be the student with the most people switching to use biodiesel or some other activity to decrease the greenhouse gas emissions in the Seattle area and win great prizes and acclaim.  The Northwest Biodiesel Network, with grant funding from the City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Climate Protection Fund, is pleased to announce this exciting contest!

Rules

  • This contest is open to sixth – twelfth grade students who are residents of the city of Seattle
  • Only signed pledges between January 1, 2008 and March 7th, 2008 will be counted
  • Students will register through a sponsoring teacher by the teacher e-mailing nwbiopledgedrive@carboncontest.com with the name of the teacher, school, student and the student’s grade.
  • Pledge forms must be turned in to the Northwest Biodiesel Network no later than March 7th (no late entries accepted).
  • Actual conversions are worth twice as much as a pledge to convert (two in the hand…)

Procedure

Interested students should get their parents’ permission and a faculty representative to e-mail registration details to nwbiopledgedrive@carboncontgest.com .  Pledge forms, and talking points can be downloaded and printed from the NW Biodiesel Network’s website, http:///www.nwbiodiesel.org.  Students will take these forms around their neighborhood and convince as many people as possible to decrease their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through using biodiesel or taking another conservation method.

Between the mini-Forum and the Annual Forum, the pledge cards will be counted and the GHG emissions will be calculated to determine the winner.  The winner will be announced at the “Biodiesel In Your Neighborhood” Community Forum on March 15th at the Rainier Community Center.
